The BougeRV 12V 30 Quart (28L) Portable Car Fridge Black is the black version of BougeRV's CR 30QT compressor fridge. It has a dark charcoal body with a gray band, a 30 quart (28 liter) cabinet and a setting range of -8°F to 50°F, so you can chill drinks or keep food frozen in the same box.
It's a fit for truck drivers, campers and anyone who spends long days on the road. Plug it into a 12V or 24V DC socket or a power station, or run it from a wall outlet with the included adapter. A battery monitor watches your supply voltage and switches the compressor off before it drains your vehicle battery.
Set the temperature anywhere from -8°F to 50°F (-22°C to 10°C). Keep it near 41°F for drinks, set it below 32°F to make ice, or go below 0°F to keep ice cream frozen.
BougeRV rates the compressor to bring an empty cabinet from 77°F to 32°F in 15 minutes in MAX mode, and down to -4°F in 50 minutes. MAX mode is the one to use when you first load warm food and drinks.
The 0.99 cu. ft. interior measures 13.8 x 9.8 x 12.4 in, and a removable divider lets you split it into two sections. Bottled water stands upright on both sides of the divider.
Switch to ECO mode when you want to save energy, at a rated 45W, or use MAX mode at 60W for faster cooling. Once it reaches your setting, the compressor stops and restarts as the temperature drifts, and BougeRV states daily use stays below 1 kWh in either mode.
The monitor turns the fridge off when supply voltage drops to the level you choose. Medium is the factory setting, with a 10.1V cut-out on 12V systems and 22.3V on 24V. High protects your vehicle battery more, while Low lets the fridge use more of the battery's energy.
BougeRV rates the noise at 45 dB or less, so the fridge can run in the cab or camper while you drive or sleep.
Over-the-road driving. The fridge runs on 12V or 24V DC, so long-haul drivers can keep fresh food and cold drinks in the cab.
Weekend camping. Pack meat, produce and drinks at the temperatures they need without a cooler full of melting ice.
Boating. BougeRV lists boats among the places you can use it. Have a qualified electrician handle any DC power installation on the boat, and keep the fridge out of the rain.
Tailgating. Bring frozen treats and cold drinks to the game and run the fridge from your vehicle's DC socket.
With ice, you're buying bags, draining water and losing space to the ice itself. This fridge keeps a steady set temperature as long as it has power, and it can work as a freezer down to -8°F. You do need a DC socket, a power station or an outlet.
Fridge + Cover pairs the black fridge with a black BougeRV cover. As pictured, the cover has a front pocket with a yellow buckle strap and mesh pockets on the side.
Fridge + Battery adds a BougeRV battery for running the fridge away from your vehicle. BougeRV doesn't give a runtime for this combination, so our team can help you estimate what you need.
After unpacking, leave the fridge upright and flat for 12 hours before you turn it on. Give it at least 7.9 in of clearance at the back and 3.9 in at the sides for the vents. While it runs, keep the tilt under 5° for long periods and under 45° for short ones. Hold the power button for 3 to 5 seconds to switch it on.
Use Medium battery protection on a vehicle starter battery or a portable power station. Turn the fridge off or unplug it when the engine is off, so it doesn't drain your car battery. Don't connect it straight to a solar panel, since changing panel voltage affects how the fridge runs.
It sits inside the insulating layer at the bottom of the fridge. A reading you take yourself can be about 6°F higher than the display, and BougeRV calls that normal.
No. Once the cabinet reaches your setting, the compressor stops for about 10 minutes while the temperature rises about 3 to 5°C, then runs for about 15 minutes to bring it back down.
No. The fridge contains refrigerant, and running it on its side or standing on end can affect cooling and cause malfunctions.
BougeRV doesn't recommend it. The walls are filled with foam for insulation rather than solid plastic, and long periods of weight can deform them.
BougeRV lists an outside temperature range of 50°F to 122°F. In humid air above 75%, light condensation on the cabinet is normal.
The Fridge + Cover option adds a BougeRV fridge cover, and the Fridge + Battery option adds a BougeRV battery.
The BougeRV 12V 30 Quart (28L) Portable Car Fridge Black gives you 30 quarts of fridge or freezer space, a 15-minute pull-down to 32°F, a 45W ECO mode and a three-level battery monitor, all on 12V, 24V or AC power. BougeRV backs it with a 2-year warranty. If you'd like help choosing a package or sizing a power source, the Outbound Power team is ready to help.
