The BougeRV CRS 79QT is a compressor fridge freezer with two compartments that you set separately. It holds 79 quarts (75 L, 2.65 cu ft), and each zone can be set anywhere from -4°F to 68°F (-20°C to 20°C). That lets you keep drinks and produce cold on one side while meat, ice cream or frozen meals stay frozen on the other.
It runs on 12V or 24V DC in a vehicle and on 100-240V AC at home with the included adapter. It's built for long road trips, overlanding, RV and camper travel, boats and campsites, and for anyone who needs extra cold storage in a garage or at home. Choose the fridge on its own or the Fridge + Battery package.
Each compartment has its own lid and its own setting. In dual compartment mode you press the Settings button to pick the left or right zone, then use the plus and minus buttons, and the setting saves after 5 seconds. Two removable wire baskets help you keep food organized and lift it out.
The fridge uses a compressor and R600a refrigerant. BougeRV states that in MAX mode with an empty box it cools from 77°F to 32°F in 15 minutes and from 77°F to -4°F in 50 minutes.
MAX mode is rated at 45W for fast cooling, and ECO mode is rated at 36W to save energy. The rated power input is 70W. BougeRV states the fridge uses less than 1kWh per day in either mode because the compressor cycles on and off once it reaches your set temperature.
A built-in battery monitor turns the compressor off when your supply voltage drops below the level you choose, so the fridge doesn't run your battery flat. You can pick High, Medium or Low. On 12V, High cuts out at 11.1V and turns back on at 12.4V. The factory setting is Medium, and BougeRV recommends High when you run from a vehicle starter battery.
The LCD control panel shows each zone's temperature, the MAX or ECO mode, the battery protection level and your choice of °F or °C. BougeRV's app lets you check and adjust the fridge from your phone. The fridge also has an LED light.
If the power is cut and then comes back, the fridge turns on with the same settings you had before, so there's nothing to reset after a short outage.
You can reverse the direction the lids open to suit where the fridge sits in your vehicle. Lid latches and a sealing rubber ring hold the cold in, carry handles help you move it, and each compartment has a drain hole for cleaning and defrosting.
Overlanding and road trips. Plug into your 12V or 24V socket and keep groceries cold on one side and frozen food on the other.
RV and camper travel. Add 75 L of fridge and freezer space to a camper, van or travel trailer without giving up your built-in fridge.
Boating. Keep catch, drinks and food cold on board. BougeRV states that DC power installation on a boat must be handled by qualified electricians.
Extra storage at home. Run it from a wall outlet with the AC adapter for overflow food at holidays or as a spare freezer in the garage.
An ice cooler needs fresh ice, and the melt water soaks your food. The CRS 79QT holds a temperature you set, can freeze as well as chill, and gives you all of the space inside for food and drinks instead of ice.
A single zone fridge holds one temperature for the whole box, so you choose between chilling and freezing. The CRS 79QT gives you two zones with separate settings, so you can do both at once.
The Fridge Only package runs from your vehicle's DC power or a wall outlet. The Fridge + Battery package adds a BougeRV battery, a portable power source for running the fridge away from the vehicle, such as at a campsite or picnic table.
Let the fridge sit flat for 12 hours after unpacking before you first power it on. Keep it level while it runs, with a tilt under 5° for long-term use and under 45° for short periods. Leave at least 7.9 in of space behind it and 3.9 in at the sides so the vents can release heat. BougeRV lists a safe outside temperature range of 50°F to 122°F.
Use the DC cord for 12V or 24V vehicle power and the AC adapter for 100-240V outlets. BougeRV advises turning the fridge off or disconnecting it when you turn your engine off, since it could otherwise drain your car's battery. High protection is recommended for a starter battery or an additional battery such as a portable power station.
Yes. BougeRV states that as long as the power supply is kept up, the fridge can work 24 hours a day like a home refrigerator.
Not much. After it reaches the set temperature the compressor stops for about 10 minutes and the inside warms by about 3-5°C. It then runs for about 15 minutes to bring the temperature back down.
No. The fridge contains refrigerant, and running it on its side affects cooling and may cause malfunctions. Keep it upright and level.
