The DuroMax XP28000iHT Tri-Fuel Portable Inverter Generator brings whole home output and three fuel options to one quiet inverter. Its 999cc DuroMax engine produces 22,000 running and 28,000 peak watts on gasoline, 20,000 running and 25,000 peak watts on propane and 16,000 running and 20,000 peak watts on natural gas.
Total harmonic distortion stays under 3%, and 2-wire start lets compatible solar inverters start and stop the generator automatically. Two 50A outlets, remote start, CO Alert shutdown, DC output and a 5-year DuroMax warranty make it a flexible backup for large homes.
Run on gasoline, propane or natural gas. A 15-foot, 3/4-inch natural gas hose with quick-connect fittings and a 6-foot propane hose with regulator are included. Natural gas operation requires 6.0 to 9.0 inches of water column and up to 327,000 BTU at full load.
With 22,000 running watts on gasoline, the XP28000iHT has the capacity to run central air, a water heater, well pumps and the rest of many homes at once.
Two 14-50R outlets let you use the full output with interlocks or transfer switches. An L14-30R and four 5-20R GFCI outlets cover other loads.
Connect to your solar inverter's dry contacts so it can start and stop the generator automatically when batteries need charging.
DuroMax lists DC output for charging 48V and 52V battery banks, and DC output wires are included.
Start with the included remote or the push button. A built-in sensor shuts the generator down if carbon monoxide builds to unsafe levels. The AGM battery and included battery tender keep it ready.
The 12.7-gallon tank delivers about 16 hours at 25% load and 9 hours at 50% load on gasoline. On a 60 lb propane tank, DuroMax rates about 10 hours at 50% load.
Large home backup on natural gas. Connected to a gas line, run most of your home through long outages without refueling.
Solar and battery systems. Pair with an off-grid or hybrid inverter for automatic generator charging.
Farms and shops. Run large 240V equipment with stable, clean power.
Rural properties. Use propane where natural gas is not available.
Versus the DuroMax XP28000iH. The iH has the same gasoline and propane output without natural gas operation.
Versus the DuroMax XP16000iHT. The XP28000iHT adds 9,000 running watts on gasoline, 2-wire start and DC output.
Versus home standby generators. It matches many standby units on output and can run on natural gas, but it is portable and not permanently installed.
This may be a good fit if
DuroMax says it provides enough power for refrigerators, A/C and lights. For whole home backup, check your power needs and use a transfer switch or interlock installed by a licensed electrician.
Connected to a gas line with adequate pressure and volume, it can run as long as fuel is supplied, with regular maintenance.
DuroMax rates it at 70 dB at 25% load.
DuroMax lists 5-year coverage for the XP28000iHT, backed by USA-based support.
The DuroMax XP28000iHT delivers 28,000 peak watts of clean inverter power on three fuels, with two 50A outlets, 2-wire start and a 5-year warranty. At Outbound Power, we can help you plan a whole home or solar backup setup. If you have questions, our team is happy to help.
