The Faraday Dry Bag Backpack in Stealth Black is a roll-top backpack lined with three layers of CYBER NC (nickel/copper) shielding fabric. Faraday Defense rates it at 85-90 dB of attenuation. The outside is puncture-resistant, water-repelling tarpaulin, and the top closes with a double roll and dual-clip closure that Faraday Defense says forms a water-tight seal.
It's built for transporting and storing sensitive, high-value electronics such as laptops, tablets and radios. Faraday Defense designed it for military, police departments, forensic investigators, government and executive travel, personal data security and signal isolation. Closed, it measures 16 x 11 x 6 in.
The interior is lined with three layers of metal-plated fabric containing nickel and copper shielding elements. Faraday Defense says the lining dissipates signals from both outside and inside sources and blocks communication to and from your devices, with 85-90 dB of attenuation.
Faraday Defense lists Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cell signals (including 5G networks), GPS and RFID as blocked. It also describes the lining as providing RF/EMF shielding, location blocking and EMP protection.
Roll the top down twice and fasten the two clips. Faraday Defense describes this tight double roll and clip closure as what seals the bag for signal blocking and gives it a water-tight seal.
The tarpaulin outer shell is puncture resistant and water repelling. Strong, reinforced seams add durability for daily carry and storage.
The roomy interior fits laptops, tablets, radios and more. Closed, the bag measures 16 x 11 x 6 in, and the width expands out to 15 in for a closed size of 16 x 15 x 6 in. Unrolled, it stands 22 in high.
Padded shoulder straps, mesh padding on the back and multiple quick-release straps make it comfortable to carry. Two side pockets hold drinks or smaller gear.
Executive and government travel. Carry a laptop and tablet inside the shielded compartment, so the lining blocks signals to and from them while the bag is sealed.
Investigations and signal isolation. Faraday Defense designed the bag with police departments and forensic investigators in mind, for keeping devices isolated from wireless signals during transport.
Emergency preparedness. Store radios and spare electronics in the bag at home, inside the CYBER NC lining that Faraday Defense describes as providing EMP protection.
Wet-weather commutes. With the roll top sealed, the tarpaulin shell sheds rain on the walk or ride to work.
A standard dry bag is made to keep water out, but it doesn't block wireless signals. The Faraday Dry Bag Backpack adds three layers of CYBER NC fabric rated at 85-90 dB behind the same kind of roll-top closure.
A pouch shields one device at a time, and the backpack around it does nothing for water or signals. Here the whole main compartment is lined, so a laptop, tablet and radios share one shielded space inside a tarpaulin shell.
Shielding depends on the closure. Roll the top down twice and fasten both clips before you rely on it. The side pockets sit outside the lined main compartment, so keep anything you want shielded inside.
Put a phone inside, close the bag fully and call the phone. With the top rolled and clipped, the call shouldn't go through. If it does, unroll the top and close it again more carefully.
Faraday Defense says the interior fits laptops, tablets, radios and more. Closed, the bag measures 16 x 11 x 6 in, and the width expands to 15 in. Measure larger laptops before you order.
Faraday Defense rates the three CYBER NC layers at 85-90 dB of attenuation and lists Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cell signals including 5G, GPS and RFID as blocked.
Faraday Defense describes the tarpaulin as water repelling and the roll closure as a water-tight seal, and it lists water-resistant construction. It doesn't say the bag can be submerged, so keep it out of standing water.
Faraday Defense describes the CYBER NC lining as providing EMP protection and lists EMP protection among the bag's design purposes. It doesn't publish separate EMP test figures for this bag.
The Faraday Dry Bag Backpack combines three layers of CYBER NC fabric rated at 85-90 dB, a double roll and dual-clip closure and a puncture-resistant tarpaulin shell in one backpack. If you'd like help checking whether your laptop or radios will fit, the Outbound Power team is happy to help.
