The Renogy Customizable 600W 12V RV Solar Kit Charges From Solar and Your Alternator With a 50A DC-DC Charger

The Renogy Customizable 600W 12V RV Solar Kit pairs three Renogy 16BB N-type 200W panels with Renogy's 12V 50A DC-DC on-board battery charger with MPPT. The charger keeps your RV or van house battery charged from the solar array at camp and from the vehicle's alternator while you drive, all from one compact unit. The kit also includes a Y branch connector pair, a 20-foot adaptor kit, 4 AWG tray cables, a double cable entry gland and Z-bracket mounts.

Three 200W panels can deliver up to 600W in full sun, and the charger's all-in-one negative terminal design consolidates the solar, starter battery and house battery connections for a cleaner, simpler installation. It is an efficient way to add serious charging to a camper, van, boat or caravan.

Renogy Customizable 600W RV Solar Kit Features

Three 16BB N-Type 200W Panels

N-type cells with 16 busbars deliver 20.7% module efficiency and hold up well in heat and low light. A durable aluminum alloy frame handles bumps and vibration on the road.

12V 50A DC-DC Charger With MPPT

The charger accepts solar input up to 50V and alternator input, delivering up to 50A (660W) to a 12V house battery at 94% efficiency. It supports AGM, sealed, gel, flooded, lithium and user-defined battery profiles.

Simplified Wiring

The negative terminal design brings the solar array, starter battery and house battery connections together, saving space and installation time.

Cables and Roof Hardware

A 20-foot 10 AWG adaptor kit and 8-foot 4 AWG tray cables connect the system, a double cable entry gland seals the roof penetration and Z brackets secure the panels.

Real-World Applications

RVs and travel trailers. Charge from the sun at camp and from the tow vehicle on the road.

Camper vans. Combine alternator and solar charging without separate units.

Boats and caravans. Keep house batteries charged from the engine and the sun.

Overland rigs. Support a fridge and auxiliary battery on extended trips.

How It Compares to Common Alternatives

Versus the Rover 60A version. Renogy's Essential 600W kit uses a Rover 60A MPPT controller that handles higher solar voltage and 24V banks but does not charge from the alternator. This kit adds alternator charging in one unit.

Versus separate solar and DC-DC chargers. Two units cost more and take more space and wiring.

Versus generators. This kit charges silently with no fuel or quiet-hour restrictions.

Is This Kit the Right Fit

  • Battery. Designed for 12V house batteries. The kit does not include a battery.
  • Solar wiring. Each panel has a 37.44V open circuit voltage, so wire the panels in parallel to stay under the charger's 50V maximum.
  • Roof space. Each panel measures 49.7 x 30.1 inches and weighs 23.4 lbs.
  • Fusing. Plan for appropriate fuses on the solar, starter battery and house battery circuits.

This may be a good fit if

  • You want solar and alternator charging in one system
  • You travel often between campsites
  • You have a 12V lithium or lead-acid house battery
  • You want 600W of efficient rigid panels

Common Questions

Can I Charge While Driving and Parked?

Yes. The charger draws from the alternator when the engine runs and from the panels whenever there is sun.

Can I Wire the Panels in Series?

No. Two panels in series would exceed the charger's 50V solar input limit. Wire them in parallel.

Do I Need an Inverter?

Only if you want to run 120V AC appliances from the house battery.
