The Freedom Pro 16K-48 is a 48V all-in-one solar charge inverter with 16000W of rated split-phase output. It combines a pure sine wave inverter, two MPPT solar inputs with up to 24000W of PV array power, a 300A battery charger, grid and generator inputs and built-in breakers in one wall-mounted unit.

It is built for large homes, farms, workshops and light commercial buildings that need 120V and 240V power from solar and batteries. It is certified by Intertek to UL 1741 and CSA C22.2 No. 107.1 as a stand-alone inverter, and up to 6 units can run in parallel.

16000W Split-Phase Output for 120V and 240V Loads

The inverter delivers 120V on each leg and 240V between legs, at 50/60Hz. Rated output is 16000W, or 66.7A, with a peak of 2 times rated power for 10 seconds and a motor load capacity of 9HP. That covers 240V loads such as air conditioners, water pumps, dryers, electric ranges and Level 2 EV chargers.

130% Unbalanced Load Support

Home circuits rarely load both legs evenly. The inverter supports 130% unbalanced load, so it can handle uneven 120V loads between L1 and L2.

Two 36A MPPTs With Up to 24000W of PV

Each of the 2 MPPT trackers takes up to 12KW of PV array power and 36A of input current. The MPPT range is 120-550Vdc with a 600Vdc maximum open-circuit voltage, and SunGold rates the trackers at 99% efficiency. Two inputs let you run two strings or roof faces at their own operating points.

300A Charging for Lithium and Lead-Acid Batteries

The 48V battery input works from 40 to 60Vdc with up to 300A of charge and discharge current. It supports lithium-ion, sealed, gel and flooded lead-acid batteries and a user-defined profile, and it follows the BMS of a connected lithium battery. Dual activation wakes a hibernating lithium battery from either PV or utility power.

Uninterrupted Power With Bypass and Generator Inputs

The inverter switches between utility bypass and inverter output with a typical switch time of 10 ms, and the grid input is rated for up to 100A. A generator input charges the batteries and supports the loads, and without a generator that port can be set as a smart load output.

Built-In Protection, AFCI and Rapid Shutdown

Protection covers the battery, AC output short circuit, overload, overtemperature and PV overvoltage. SunGold lists built-in AFCI, GFCI and rapid shutdown, and states that the rapid shutdown system complies with 2017 and 2020 NEC 690.12 when paired with APsmart RSD units at the modules.

Scheduling, Monitoring and Energy-Saving Mode

Four AC output priority modes and two charging modes, solar only or solar plus grid, set how power flows. Timed charge and discharge lets you plan around time-of-use rates, and an energy-saving mode reduces no-load losses. The LCD shows a live power flow diagram, and the included WiFi module connects to the mobile app.

Indoor Installation and Wiring

The inverter is IP20 rated for indoor use only. Mount it on a solid wall out of direct sunlight, in a dry, ventilated space between 14°F and 131°F; output is derated above 113°F. It weighs 105 lbs and measures 24.5 x 33.61 x 8.48 inches. SunGold specifies 000 AWG battery cable with a 2P-350A breaker, 10 AWG cable with a 2P-45A breaker for each PV input, and 2 AWG cable for the grid, generator and load circuits.

PV String Limits

Keep each string's open-circuit voltage at or below 600V and its current within 36A per MPPT. When inverters run in parallel, each unit needs its own PV array.
