The SunGold Power 590 Watt Bifacial N-Type Monocrystalline Solar Panel Brings 590 Watts of Bifacial N-Type Solar Power to Off-Grid, Hybrid, and Grid-Tied Systems

The SunGold Power 590 Watt Bifacial N-Type Monocrystalline Solar Panel (SGN-590-BDG1) captures sunlight on both its front and rear surfaces. Light reflected from the ground, snow, gravel, or a light-colored roof reaches the back of the panel and adds to its output, and SunGold says bifacial modules can generate up to 30 percent more energy than conventional panels when the rear side is exposed to reflected light.

It uses 144 cells of N-type monocrystalline silicon and is rated at 590 watts on the front side, with UL61730 certification through ETL. SunGold designs it for flat roofs, ground mounts, vertical surfaces, and pole mounts, and backs it with a 12 year material and workmanship warranty and a 30 year linear power warranty. Choose a 2 to 20 panel pack using the options on this page.

Dual-Sided Power Generation

The transparent rear side collects reflected and diffuse light, so a ground mount over light-colored gravel, a snowy field, or a white roof can produce more energy than a single-sided panel of the same front rating. Actual rear-side gain depends on mounting height and surface reflectivity.

Better Performance in Snow and Partial Shade

SunGold notes the dual-sided design captures reflected light and helps shed snow, and its N-type cells improve output and reliability under partial shading.

590 Watts With a ±3% Tolerance

At standard test conditions, each panel produces 590 watts at 44.40V and 13.29A, with an open circuit voltage of 52.35V and short circuit current of 13.90A.

Built for Harsh Weather

SunGold rates the panel for 2400Pa of wind load and an operating range of -40°F to 185°F, and confirms it is waterproof.

1500V System Rating and 12 AWG Leads

A 1500V maximum system voltage gives flexibility for long series strings on high voltage MPPT inverters, and 12 AWG output cables (1 ft per cable) connect to standard solar extension cables.

Real-World Applications

Off-grid homes and cabins. Build an array sized to your battery bank and all-in-one inverter.

Grid-tied and hybrid systems. Reduce power bills by pairing the panels with a hybrid inverter and battery storage.

Ground and pole mounts. Install in open areas where panels can be angled for the best production and the rear side can collect reflected light.

Farms, shops, and outbuildings. Power pumps, lighting, and equipment far from the grid.

How It Compares to Common Alternatives

Versus monofacial panels. Single-sided panels only collect light from the front. Bifacial panels add rear-side production, which is most valuable on ground mounts and reflective surfaces.

Versus higher wattage panels. Larger panels mean fewer modules and connections, but they are heavier and harder to handle on a roof. Choose the size that fits your mounting space and installation crew.

Versus full pallets. For large arrays, SunGold also offers full pallets, which can be more efficient for big installations.

Is This Solar Panel the Right Fit

  • Inverter or controller. Check that your string voltage stays within your inverter or charge controller's MPPT range. Each panel's open circuit voltage is 52.35V.
  • Mounting space. Each panel measures 89.69 x 44.65 x 1.38 in and weighs 69.45 lb.
  • System voltage. The 1500V system rating supports long series strings on high voltage inverters.
  • Quantity. Panels are sold in packs of 2 to 20. Select the quantity you need.

This may be a good fit if

  • You can mount panels where the rear side sees reflected light
  • You are building an off-grid, hybrid, or grid-tied array
  • You want UL61730-certified modules
  • You use a high voltage MPPT inverter or controller

Common Questions

Is It Waterproof?

Yes. SunGold confirms the panel is waterproof.

Should I Wire the Panels in Series or Parallel?

It depends on your inverter or charge controller's PV voltage range, your system voltage, and any shading. Check your inverter's MPPT range before arranging the array.
