The SunGold Power SGR-5KE Pairs a 5kW Inverter With 2,700W of Solar and 10.24kWh of LiFePO4 Storage

The SunGold Power 5kW 48VDC Off-Grid Solar Kit (SGR-5KE) is a complete off-grid solar kit built around a 5000W all-in-one inverter (SPH5048P). It includes 6 x 450W bifacial N-type monocrystalline solar panels for 2,700W of solar, 2 x 51.2V 100Ah LiFePO4 server rack batteries (SG48100P) for 10.24kWh of storage, and the breakers, cables, and mounting hardware SunGold lists for the system.

This kit combines a 5000W 120V all-in-one inverter with six 450W bifacial panels and two 5.12kWh server rack batteries for 10.24kWh of storage.

SunGold Power SGR-5KE 5kW Solar Kit Features

5kW 120V Inverter

The SPH5048P is a 5000W all-in-one inverter with a built-in 100A MPPT solar charge controller and AC charger. It delivers 120VAC pure sine wave output with up to 10,000VA of peak power, accepts up to 5,500W of solar at up to 500V open circuit, and supports optional Wi-Fi monitoring through an app.

10.24kWh of LiFePO4 Storage

Each SG48100P is a 51.2V, 100Ah (5.12kWh) lithium iron phosphate battery in a 3U server rack format. SunGold rates it for 7,000 or more cycles at 80% depth of discharge with a 15-year design life, and it communicates with the inverter over RS485 or CAN. It is certified to UL1973 and is rated IP20 for indoor installation. Two batteries combine for 10.24kWh of storage.

2,700W Solar Array

The 450W bifacial N-type panels (SGN-450-BDG5) use 96 N-type monocrystalline cells and can collect reflected light from the rear side when mounted with open space behind them. Each panel is UL61730 and CEC listed and carries a 12-year material and workmanship warranty with a 30-year linear power warranty. At four peak sun hours, the 6-panel array produces about 10.8kWh per day. Actual output depends on location, season, tilt, and shading.

Built-In MPPT Solar Charging

The inverter has built-in MPPT solar charging, so the panels connect directly to the inverter without a separate charge controller. That keeps wiring simpler and reduces the number of components to mount.

Breakers, Cables, and Mounting Hardware

SunGold includes DC and PV breakers, battery and inverter cables, 50-foot solar extension cables, and Z-brackets for mounting the panels, all sized for this kit. SunGold also publishes a wiring diagram for the kit on its website. Having matched protection and cabling in the box saves sourcing time and helps keep the installation consistent.

Room to Expand

Up to six identical SPH5048P inverters can run in parallel for single-phase 120V, split-phase 120/240V, or three-phase 208V output. SunGold lists up to 32 SG48100P batteries in parallel, so storage can grow with your needs. Add panels within the inverter solar input limits as your energy use grows.

Real-World Applications

Off-grid cabins. Power lights, refrigeration, electronics, and pumps at a remote property.

Shops and garages. Run tools and equipment without trenching a utility line.

Small homes. Cover everyday household loads with solar and battery storage.

Home backup. Keep essential circuits running through outages.

How It Compares to Common Alternatives

Versus buying components separately. A kit pairs an inverter, batteries, and panels that SunGold has matched for voltage and current, with breakers and cables sized for the system and a published wiring diagram.

Versus a fuel generator alone. Solar and batteries run quietly with no fuel deliveries. Many off-grid owners still keep a generator for long cloudy stretches, and the inverter can charge the batteries from one.

Versus the SGM-5K10M. The SGM-5K10M uses the same inverter with 370W panels and wall-mounted Powerwall batteries.

Is This Solar Kit the Right Fit

  • Daily energy. The array produces about 10.8kWh per day at four peak sun hours. Compare that with your average daily use.
  • Loads. The inverter provides 5,000W of continuous 120VAC output. Output is 120V only, so 240V appliances are not supported.
  • Battery location. The batteries are rated IP20 and belong in a dry, indoor space.
  • Mounting. Z-brackets are included for flat surface mounting. Ground mounts or racking for other mounting styles are sold separately.
  • Installation. Have a qualified electrician install the system and follow local codes and permit requirements.

This may be a good fit if

  • You want a matched solar, battery, and inverter package
  • Your loads run on 120V
  • Your daily energy use is around 10.8kWh or less
  • You plan to expand the system later

Common Questions

How Much Energy Will This Kit Produce?

At four peak sun hours, the 2,700W array produces about 10.8kWh per day. Production varies with your location, season, and panel orientation.

Does It Need a Separate Charge Controller?

No. Solar charging is built into the inverter.

Can I Add More Batteries Later?

SunGold lists up to 32 SG48100P batteries in parallel, so storage can grow with your needs.

Can It Charge From a Generator?

Yes. The inverter accepts AC input from the grid or a generator to charge the batteries and pass power to loads.

Is Installation Included?

No. The kit ships as components. We recommend a qualified electrician for installation and permitting.
