The SunGold Power 5kW 48VDC Solar Kit (SGK-5PRO) is an off-grid system built around a 5000W 48V pure sine wave solar inverter, the Wi-Fi model. Six 450W monocrystalline PERC panels feed its MPPT charger, and four 12V 200Ah LiFePO4 batteries with Bluetooth form a 10.24kWh battery bank.
The 12V batteries suit owners who want to check each battery from a phone and need self-heating for cold seasons. SunGold's 12V batteries support 12V, 24V or 48V configurations, and four in series make the 48V bank this inverter runs on.
Each battery stores 2560Wh at 12.8V and has a built-in 200A BMS that protects against overcharging, over-discharging, overcurrent, short circuits and high temperature. SunGold rates the cells for 4000+ deep cycles.
Each battery has an LCD for voltage and state of charge, plus Bluetooth. The SGP Battery app for iOS and Android shows real-time battery data, including cell data and warnings.
The batteries warm themselves when their core temperature drops below 33.8°F (1°C) and stop at 42.8°F (6°C). That keeps charging possible through cold winters.
Six SG450WM panels reach 20.79% module efficiency with 120 PERC cells. IP68 junction boxes and anodized aluminum frames are built for long outdoor service.
The inverter supplies 5000W of 120V pure sine wave power with a 10000VA peak. Its MPPT charger accepts up to 5500W of PV at up to 500V open circuit, so the 2700W array is about half of what it can take.
The Wi-Fi model reports system data to an app. Four output modes (PV priority, utility priority, inverter priority and hybrid output) let you choose how loads are served.
Cold-climate cabins. Self-heating batteries help the bank keep charging through winter at a seasonal or full-time cabin.
Off-grid homes on 120V. Run household appliances, electronics and lighting from 2700W of solar and 10.24kWh of storage.
Shops and outbuildings. Power tools and equipment with a system you can monitor battery by battery.
Backup charging by generator. The 40A AC charger lets a generator refill the batteries when sun is short.
Versus a single 48V battery. Here four 12V batteries make up the bank. Each weighs 48.5LB and has its own Bluetooth, LCD and self-heating. The tradeoff is that a series bank needs matched, evenly charged batteries.
Versus a component-by-component build. The inverter, MPPT solar charger and AC charger are one unit, with one display and one app.
Versus a 120/240V split phase inverter. A single unit here gives 120V. Paralleling identical inverters adds 240V split phase output.
