The SunGold Power 6000W DC 48V Split Phase Pure Sine Wave Inverter With Charger Is a UL1741 Low Frequency Inverter for 48 Volt Systems

The SunGold Power 6000W DC 48V Split Phase Pure Sine Wave Inverter With Charger converts 48 volt battery power into 120 and 240 volt split phase pure sine wave AC. It combines a 6000 watt low frequency inverter, a 60 amp battery charger, and an 80 amp automatic transfer switch, and SunGold lists this 48V model as built to the UL1741 standard.

Running at 48 volts keeps DC current low for a 6000 watt system, which makes cabling simpler and more efficient. It is well suited to off-grid homes, cabins, shops, and backup systems that feed a 120/240V panel from a 48V battery bank.

SunGold Power 6000W DC 48V Split Phase Pure Sine Wave Inverter With Charger Features

Split Phase 120/240V Output

Two 120V legs supply standard household circuits, with 240V available across them for well pumps, dryers, and other 240V equipment. Output frequency can be set to 50 or 60Hz with SW4.

18000 Watt Surge for 20 Seconds

The low frequency transformer delivers three times its rated output for up to 20 seconds, helping start motor loads that would overwhelm a lighter inverter.

60 Amp Charger and 80 Amp Transfer Switch

The built-in 3-step charger delivers up to 60 amps (±5A) at 48V from 240VAC input, with 9 battery type settings and an adjustable 0 to 100 percent charge current. SunGold rates the built-in transfer switch at 80 amps, and typical transfer time is 10ms.

Priority Modes and Automatic Generator Start

AC priority is the default, and SW5 switches to battery priority for solar-charged systems. The inverter can start a compatible generator when the batteries are low and stop it once charging is finished. AC input range is selectable at 140 to 270VAC or 184 to 253VAC with SW2.

LCD, Remote Control, and BTS Cable

SunGold includes a remote control and battery temperature sensor cable. Idle consumption is 81 watts, or 30 watts in power saver mode.

Real-World Applications

Off-grid homes. Power a 120/240V panel from a 48V lithium bank, including a well pump and kitchen appliances.

Cabins and shops. Run 240V tools and 120V circuits from one inverter.

Backup power. Keep critical circuits running with automatic transfer and generator start.

Solar systems with a separate controller. Pair it with an external MPPT charge controller and use battery priority.

How It Compares to Common Alternatives

Versus the 6000W 24V split phase model. The 24V version has a larger 90 amp charger but draws twice the DC current. The 48V model reduces cable size and carries UL1741 listing.

Versus all-in-one solar inverters. SunGold confirms this unit needs an external solar controller for solar panels.

Versus parallel-capable inverters. SunGold states that these inverters cannot be connected in parallel, so choose a model sized for your full load.

Is This Inverter Charger the Right Fit

  • Battery voltage. Requires a 48 volt battery bank. Lower voltage batteries can be wired in series to reach 48V if the manufacturer allows it.
  • AC input. Requires 240VAC input from the grid or a generator.
  • System type. This is an off-grid inverter charger, not a grid-tie inverter.
  • Space. Plan for a 25.6 x 9.1 x 7.5 inch, 76.7 pound unit.

This may be a good fit if

  • You have or plan a 48V battery bank
  • You want 120/240V split phase output
  • You want a UL1741-listed low frequency inverter charger
  • You need strong surge for motor loads

Common Questions

Is This a Grid-Tie Inverter?

No. SunGold describes it as an off-grid pure sine wave inverter charger.

Can Several Units Be Paralleled?

No. SunGold states these inverters cannot be connected in parallel.

Can I Connect Solar Panels Directly?

No. You need an external solar charge controller.

Can I Use 12V or 24V Batteries?

Only when wired in series to create a 48V bank, if your batteries support series connection. SunGold recommends using one battery size and model in a system.
